The Christian vocation is essentially a call to be a disciple of Jesus. God wants us to cherish and serve others and contribute to the overall welfare of our faith community. God calls us all to serve as He served – to use the talents that He has given each of us for the benefit of His glory and that of His whole world.
The one who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and the one who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each of you must give as you have made up your mind, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to provide you with every blessing in abundance, so that you may share in every good work.
St. Teresa of Avila
Christ has no body now on earth but yours, no hands but yours, no feet but yours; yours are the eyes through which to look at Christ’s compassion to the world, yours are the feet with which He is to go about doing good, and yours are the hands with which He is to bless us now.
“That when two or more are gathered in my name, there will I be also.”
