We will offer Mass and the distribution of ashes on Wednesday, March 2 at 9:00 am and at 7 pm.
During Lent, Stations of the Cross will be following every Friday Morning Mass.
A reminder.
With Ash Wednesday we begin the sacred season of Lent. There are the three disciplines of Lent: prayer, fasting, and almsgiving. On Ash Wednesday and Good Friday, we have obligation to fast and abstain from meat.
Catholics from age 18 up through to the beginning of their 60th year (their 59th birthday) are required to fast unless they have a serious reason for not doing so. According to Pope Paul VI’s apostolic constitution Paenitemini, “The law of fasting allows only one full meal a day, but does not prohibit taking some food in the morning and evening, observing–as far as quantity and quality are concerned–approved local custom.” (Paenitemini, ch. III., III., 2).
Catholics who have reached age 14 are required to abstain from meat on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday. Notice there is no upper age limit on the requirement to abstain from meat.
